Mondiali Trentino Fiemme 2013, MONDIALI ECO-SOSTENIBILI (ita – eng)

L’anima verde dei Campionati del Mondo di Sci Nordico Trentino Fiemme 2013 si esprime attraverso skibus gratuiti, navette a idrogeno, eco-certificazioni delle strutture sportive e l’azzeramento delle emissioni inquinanti.

Fra le iniziative ambientali, una rivoluzionaria isola tecno-ecologica, un villaggio per il risparmio energetico e persino le Green Night di musica e divertimento a luci basse

Saranno Mondiali di Sci Nordico ‘sostenibili’ quelli ospitati per la terza volta in Val di Fiemme (nel 1991 e nel 2003, le edizioni precedenti), dal 20 febbraio al 3 marzo 2013. Le energie ‘alternative’ messe in campo non trascurano nemmeno il più piccolo particolare. Le strutture sportive sono state realizzate e completate con il marchio PEFC, il sistema di certificazione forestale sostenibile più diffuso al mondo.

La stessa certificazione è stata ottenuta per la carta utilizzata nell’organizzazione e nella promozione dei Mondiali e persino per la carta igienica.

Per ridurre emissioni inquinanti è stato incoraggiato l’uso degli skibus durante i Campionati. Viaggiano gratis tutti gli accreditati ai Mondiali e i possessori della FiemmE-MOTION Winter Card. Inoltre, sono state introdotte nuove navette a idrogeno, grazie alla sinergia fra Trentino Trasporti, la Provincia Autonoma di Trento e l’Azienda per il Turismo Val di Fiemme.

I consumi energetici prodotti, in oltre un anno di organizzazione dell’evento iridato, saranno recuperati in due anni e mezzo, grazie ai dispositivi di risparmio di energia elettrica che la Provincia Autonoma di Trento e il Comitato Organizzatore del Mondiali hanno promosso e sostenuto l’installazione in diversi enti pubblici e aziende della Val di Fiemme.

D’altronde questa valle, fra le Dolomiti del Trentino, è stata la prima a eco-certificare le sue foreste (Fsc), gestite con oculatezza da un ente millenario, la Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme. E proprio in Val di Fiemme, nel 2003, sono stati organizzati i primi Mondiali eco-certificati (ISO 14001). Da allora il Comitato Organizzatore ha continuato a ideare e promuovere scelte ambientali ecosostenibili, potenziando l’uso della bike, organizzando giornate Senz’Auto e proponendo ai turisti le vacanze sostenibili FiemmE-motion, in collaborazione con la Comunità Territoriale di Fiemme, i Comuni della valle e Trentino Sviluppo Spa. Inoltre, è stata creata una rete di aziende e imprenditori che, con il brand “Fiemme PIACE” (Passione, Innovazione, Appartenenza, Competenze, Eco-sostenibilità), condividono e promuovono progetti a favore dell’ambiente.

Questi progetti prendono vita in una valle “riciclona” e pulita, sempre più attenta alla qualità della vita. La Val di Fiemme non si accontenta di respirare l’ossigeno generato da 60 milioni di alberi (secondo una stima ce ne sarebbero 200 per ogni turista), ma si mette in gioco per conquistare diversi primati. Basta dire che oltre un terzo dei ventimila abitanti usa quotidianamente energia termica o elettrica proveniente da fonti alternative, fra cui due grandi centrali di teleriscaldamento (Cavalese , Predazzo) e l’impianto fotovoltaico pubblico a terra più grande d’Italia (Carano). Fiemme, che primeggia anche nella raccolta differenziata dei rifiuti, nell’estate 2013 potrebbe ricevere il suo terzo Premio speciale dei Comuni Ricicloni d’Italia, visti i risultati sempre più entusiasmanti.

I Campionati del Mondo di Sci Nordico, in prima fila nella promozione dell’eco-sostenibilità, hanno sposato il progetto “Fiemme Vallevviva”, per diffondere la cultura del rispetto ambientale e della vivibilità. Con questo spirito presentano la prima isola tecno-ecologia. La struttura in pallet di legno, eco-certificato, alimentata con l’energia solare, ospita la raccolta differenziata sul campo di gara e, nello stesso tempo, offre un servizio gratuito di ricarica di cellulari e computer. Inoltre, lo Stadio del Fondo di Lago di Tesero ha predisposto un “Villaggio per il risparmio energetico” dove aziende leader come la Viessmann, sponsor dei Mondiali, la Feps, l’Energy Book e la Scame, illustreranno le loro avveniristiche innovazioni tecnologiche.

Ma non è tutto, durante l’evento iridato anche il popolo della notte respirerà un’atmosfera sostenibile con due emozionanti Green Night. Si abbassano le luci e si accende l’immaginazione.

MONDIALI ECO-CERTIFICATI

Legno: materia prima locale, sostenibile, rinnovabile, certificata. Col legno, di cui la Val di Fiemme è molto ricca, sono state costruite e ammodernate le strutture dei Mondiali (Stadio del Fondo, del Salto e PalaFiemme). Filo conduttore dei progetti, ora visibili, la consapevolezza di mettere al centro il prodotto locale per valorizzarlo e per influire positivamente sull’economia della valle (la costruzione e l’ammodernamento si sono avvalsi di tutta la filiera del legno presente in Fiemme: legno, segherie, ditte per la lavorazione, compresa la Scuola del Legno). I Mondiali hanno quindi ottenuto la certificazione PEFC, il sistema di certificazione forestale sostenibile più diffuso al mondo. Un nuovo passo che conferma l’intento della Valle e del Trentino di approcciarsi all’ambiente con una filosofia meno impattante possibile.

Il legno usato è abete rosso e larice della Val di Fiemme, materia prima locale certificata e tracciata di proprietà della Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme per il 50 per cento e degli altri Comuni della Valle per l’altra metà. Novecento i metri cubi di legname usato per tutte le strutture, pari a 3 giorni di crescita per i boschi della Val di Fiemme che si sviluppano al ritmo di 300 metri cubi al giorno.

In Trentino il 75% della superficie forestale è certificato.

La Val di Fiemme è conosciuta fuori dal territorio locale per la sua bellezza e per l’estensione dei suoi boschi. Nella Valle è presente tutta la filiera del legno: gestione forestale, le ditte di utilizzazione, le segherie, i due impianti di teleriscaldamento. Il Centro del Salto di Predazzo, quello del Fondo di Lago di Tesero (fra cui l’edificio che ospiterà 32 televisioni da tutto il mondo), i due luoghi protagonisti delle competizioni mondiali di sci nordico e il PalaFiemme – sede del centro stampa dei Mondiali – con il suo pavimento in legno, nonché il centro per gli accrediti degli atleti con il suo arredo sono il biglietto da visita più appropriato per far conoscere al mondo come un prodotto locale – il legno – possa essere valorizzato nella sua totalità.

Dalla carta di comunicati stampa, opuscoli e manifesti al legno di stand e impalcature, fino ai totem disseminati in ogni paese della valle e al Monumento dedicato ai Mondiali di Fiemme, tutto è stato e sarà prodotto con materie prime provenienti da legno di foreste della Val di Fiemme, gestite in modo sostenibile.

Soci (Russia), dove si svolgeranno le XXII Olimpiadi invernali nel 2014, ha già colto la sfida e ha cominciato a lavorare sulla certificazione delle sue strutture. Fiemme 2013 ha innestato, di fatto, una gara sulla sostenibilità soprattutto del legno utilizzato nelle strutture degli eventi sportivi. (F. S.)

UN EVENTO IRIDATO DAVVERO PULITO

In poco più di due anni la Val di Fiemme riuscirà a neutralizzare le emissioni di CO2 prodotte in 15 mesi di organizzazione e svolgimento dei Campionati del Mondo di Sci Nordico Trentino Fiemme 2013. Quindi i consumi elettrici e termici creati dall’1 gennaio 2012 al 31 marzo 2013 dalle strutture interessate (Stadi, PalaFiemme e sede del Comitato Organizzatore), calcolati in un milione e duecentomila kilowatt orari, saranno totalmente recuperati. L’energia prodotta per l’illuminazione, il riscaldamento e la produzione del materiale divulgativo dell’ evento iridato in poco tempo sarà azzerata.

Il progetto del Comitato Organizzatore dei Mondiali di Fiemme, sostenuto con convinzione dalla Provincia Autonoma di Trento, si realizza con l’installazione di attrezzature brevettate per la riduzione del consumi elettrici (E-BOX per l’illuminazione e E-POWER per l’energia motrice) nelle principali aziende private della Valle e negli edifici comunali di Cavalese e Predazzo. Anche dopo i Mondiali questi dispositivi regaleranno aria pulita alla Val di Fiemme, grazie al risparmio di circa 500 mila kw/h all’anno, lasciando una preziosa eredità ambientale.

Il know out creato dal Comitato a favore della qualità della vita getterà le basi per un analogo progetto che interesserà le Universiadi del Trentino del dicembre 2013, evento che coinvolgerà anche le Valli di Fiemme e Fassa.

LA PRIMA ISOLA TECNO-ECOLOGICA

Non è solo il senso di responsabilità che può migliorare la qualità della vita. Qualche volta c’è bisogno di ingegnosità. Ecco così affacciarsi nella vetrina iridata di Fiemme un gioiello ecologico rivoluzionario. Nel campo di gara del Centro del Fondo di Lago di Tesero è in funzione il prototipo della prima isola Tecno-Ecologica, battezzata eCo-b1. Oltre a garantire un servizio di raccolta differenziata, l’isola permette la ricarica gratuita e “pulita” di cellulari, HiPhone, computer e tablet. Grazie ai pannelli solari posti sul tetto, l’isola offre un servizio prezioso per il pubblico dei Campionati del Mondo di Sci Nordico Trentino Fiemme 2013 che, prevedibilmente, già a metà giornata potrebbero aver bisogno di ricaricare i loro strumenti di comunicazione e condivisione. La forte propensione all’innovazione che si respira in Val di Fiemme ha dato vita a un’isola tecno-ecologica realizzata con il legno eco-certificato di Fiemme dalla Segheria Varesco di Lago di Tesero su progetto dello Studio Progettaere+1 di Eliana Francioso. L’invenzione nasce proprio all’interno del Comitato Organizzatore dei Mondiali, grazie all’intuizione del responsabile dei progetti ambientali Danilo Buzzi. Dopo i Campionati del Mondo, eCo-b1 offrirà il suo servizio a Tesero lungo la pista ciclabile della Val di Fiemme. Questo progetto Made in Fiemme, sostenuto dalla Provincia Autonoma di Trento e dal Comune di Tesero, sembra destinato al successo, anche perché nasce come struttura mobile e multifunzionale.

MINIBUS ELETTRICI E SKIBUS GRATUITI

Sono moderni, silenziosi, economici e soprattutto a emissioni zero. Si tratta dei due minibus elettrici a idrogeno che prenderanno servizio in Val di Fiemme, in Trentino. A Panchià è stato costruito il distributore che li alimenterà. Gireranno per le strade in occasione dei Campionati del Mondo di Sci Nordico Trentino Fiemme 2013, anche per garantire un servizio shuttle ad atleti e giornalisti verso il Centro Stampa di Cavalese. Ma l’impegno per favorire la mobilità pubblica e abbassare le emissioni inquinanti va molto oltre, grazie alla sinergia fra Provincia Autonoma di Trento, Comitato Trentino Trasporti Esercizio, Trentino Trasporti e Comitato Organizzatore dei Mondiali.

Durante i Campionati, gli skibus saranno gratuiti per tutti gli accreditati ai Mondiali e per i possessori della FiemmE-motion Winter Card (distribuita dall’Azienda per il Turismo Val di Fiemme).

I servizi skibus in Val di Fiemme saranno potenziati fino a Moena per tutta a durata della manifestazione.

Sulle strade saranno presenti sei veicoli urbani ibridi diesel-elettrici, sette autobus urbani e tre autobus extraurbani (euro 5), per un servizio completo che impegnerà 20 autisti e cinque addetti al coordinamento e alla logistica.

IL VILLAGGIO DEL RISPARMIO ENERGETICO

Lago di Tesero, ingesso dello Stadio del Fondo, ad accogliere i tifosi un eco-villaggio allestito dalla Viessmann, azienda leader a livello internazionale nella produzione di sistemi per il riscaldamento, sponsor di tutte le discipline di sci nordico e partner ufficiale dei Mondiali Trentino Fiemme 2013. Nel suo spazio espositivo, la Viessmann illustra le più innovative tecnologie amiche dell’ambiente.

Il “Villaggio del risparmio energico” ospita anche l’azienda Feps, Free energy power system, con la sua innovativa parabola che, pur ricordando quella satellitare, produce energia elettrica e acqua calda. Durante i Mondiali, la parabola viene utilizzata per portare acqua calda al gruppo di tifosi norvegesi, conosciuto come il clan dei ‘Vichinghi’, che si accampa vicino alle piste ogni volta che la loro nazionale affronta una competizione. Partecipano anche l’azienda Energy book con i progetti di teleriscaldamento e l’impianto fotovoltaico realizzati in Val di Fiemme, l’azienda Scame, fornitore ufficiale di impianti elettrici per Mondiali, con una colonnina per la ricarica dei mezzi di trasporto elettrici circolanti in Val di Fiemme.

SUSTAINABLE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

The green soul of the Nordic World Ski Championships Trentino Fiemme 2013 manifests itself through free ski-buses, hydrogen fueled buses, eco-labelled sports facilities and a perfect emissions offset program.

Among the environmental initiatives, a revolutionary high-tech ecological island, a energy saving village and even Green Night music parties featuring dim street lights.

After the two previous editions hosted in 1991 and 2003, the third Nordic World Ski Championships hosted in Val di Fiemme from February 20th to March 3rd will be truly sustainable. The alternative energies fueling the World Championships will be used for every detail of the event. The sports facilities built for the event received the prestigious label issued by PEFC, the most famous sustainable forestry certification scheme in the World.

The same label was awarded also to the paper used in the daily work of the organizing committee, for the promotion of the World Championships and even the toilet paper that will be used during the event.

To reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the OC decided also to strongly promote the use of ski-buses during the event and people in possession of a valid badge for the World Championships or the FiemmE-MOTION Winter Card will have the chance to travel free on the buses. In addition to all this, new hydrogen fueled shuttle buses will serve the towns of Val di Fiemme, thanks to the positive collaboration developed between Trentino Trasporti, the Autonomous Province of Trento and the Tourism Board Val di Fiemme.

The energy consumption recorded during the year preceding the World Championships for the organization of the event will be offset in two years and a half by using a series of energy saving devices, sponsored by the Autonomous Province of Trento and the OC of Fiemme 2013, that have been installed in many public offices and enterprises of Val di Fiemme.

As a matter of fact, this valley that lays among the Dolomites of Trentino, was the first that decided to certify its forests through the FSC program. Forests that for centuries have been managed by the long-sighted approach of «Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme», a 1000 years institution that reunites the municipalities of Val di Fiemme. In addition to this, the 2003 Nordic World Ski Championships hosted in Val di Fiemme were the first eco-labelled World Championships in history, respecting the provisions of ISO 14001. Since then, the OC has kept designing and promoting eco-friendly programs and initiatives, supporting the use of bicycles, arranging Car Free days and proposing to its guests sustainable holidays through the program FiemmE-motion, in collaboration with the Territory Community of Fiemme, the municipalities of the valley and Trentino Sviluppo Spa. Besides, the valley recorded also the creation of a network of enterprises and entrepreneurs reunited under the brand «Fiemme PIACE», acronym of the values Passion, Innovation, Membership  («Appartenza» in Italian), Competence and Eco-sustainability, and willing to promote and take part to a series of eco-friendly projects.

These projects are developed in a valley irretrievably in love with recycling and a clean environment, and characterized by a growing awareness for life quality. For Val di Fiemme, breathing the oxygen produced by its more than 60 millions of trees (200 for each tourist, according to a recent survey) isn’t enough: it wants to do even more and reach the top of many other environmental rankings. Therefore, it decided to promote the use of thermal and electrical energy coming from alternative energy sources, which serve more than 30% of its 20.000 inhabitants, thanks to the two big district heating plants of Predazzo and Cavalese and the biggest public solar plant on the ground ever built in Italy (Carano). Val di Fiemme is also among the best localities in the Italian ranking for separate collection of waste and in the summer of 2013 it could even receive its third special prize as «Best Italian Recycling Locality», if the current encouraging results will be confirmed.

The Nordic World Ski Championships Trentino Fiemme 2013 are at the forefront of the promotion of eco-sustainability and decided to fully commit to the project “Fiemme Vallevviva” that aims at spreading an environmental friendly and healthy lifestyle. This is the philosophy on which is based the first high-tech ecologic island of Val di Fiemme: this eco-labeled structure is built from wooden pallets and powered with solar energy. It hosts the containers used for the separate collection of waste in the sports facilities and at the same time offers a free service to recharge the batteries of cellphones and PCs. Besides, the cross-country stadium of Lago di Tesero hosts also a energy saving village, where leader enterprises like Viessmann (official sponsor of the World Championships), Feps, Energy Book and Scame will present their cutting-edge technologies and products.

And there is even more. During the World Championships, also the «people of the night» will have the chance to breathe some sustainable air, with two exciting Green Nights that will dim the lights and spark the imagination.

ECO-LABELLED WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Wood: local, sustainable, renewable and labelled local raw material. Val di Fiemme is rich in wood and its timber has been used to build and renovate the facilities of the World Championships (cross-country stadium, ski-jumping stadium and PalaFiemme conference center). The guiding thread of these visible projects was the idea of placing the focus on a local product to emphasize its value and have a positive influence on the economy of the valley: to build and renovate the buildings, the entire timber production chain was involved, from forestry, sawmills and enterprises of the field, to the Woodwork School of the valley. This granted the World Championships the possibility to obtain the certification issued by PEFC, the most famous sustainable forestry certification scheme in the World. A new step forward for Val di Fiemme and Trentino on the road leading to a sustainable approach towards the environment.

The timber used in these projects comes from the spruces and larches of Val di Fiemme, certified and monitored raw materials that represent also a shared property of Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme and the municipalities of the valley. The total amount of wood used for building the facilities was of 900 cubic meters, a quantity that equals 3 days of growth in the forests of Val di Fiemme, where trees develop at a rate of 300 cubic meters per day.

The entire region of Trentino boasts an astonishing 75% of certified forests.

Val di Fiemme is a valley renown in the World for its beauty and the extension of its forests’ surface.

The valley hosts the components of the entire timber production chain: forestry management bodies, appointed forest industry enterprises, sawmills and two district heating plants. The two main venues of the World Championships’ races, the ski-jumping stadium of Predazzo and the cross-country stadium of Lago di Tesero (that hosts the building where 32 international broadcaster will work), PalaFiemme (main press center of the World Championships, which features an extraordinary wooden floor) and the athletes’ accreditation center with its wooden furniture, represent the perfect visiting card for a valley that wants to show the World how a local product like timber can be valorized in all its aspects and applications.

From the paper of this press release, the flyleaves and manifests, to the timber used to build stands, scaffoldings, the «totems» installed in every town of the valley or the monuments devoted to the World Championships of Val di Fiemme, everything has been and will be produced by using raw materials obtained from the wood of the forests of Val di Fiemme, which are managed following sustainable programs and approaches. Sochi (RUS), hosting venue of the XXII Winter Olympic Games that will be held in 2014, has already decided to take up the gauntlet thrown down by Fiemme 2013 and has started the procedure necessary to obtain the certification of its facilities. As a matter of fact, Fiemme 2013 has given the start to a race for sustainability, particularly regarding the timber used in the building of sports facilities. (F. S.)

DEEP GREEN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

In a little bit more than two years, Val di Fiemme will offset all the CO2 emissions produced during the 15 months of organization and management of the Nordic World Ski Championships Trentino Fiemme 2013. The electric energy consumption of the facilities involved (stadiums, Palafiemme and offices of the OC) and recorded between January 1, 2012, and March 31, 2013, estimated in 1.200.000 kW/h, will be completely offset. The energy used for lighting, heating and the production of informative material linked to the World Championships will be offset even in a shorter time.

The project of the OC of the Nordic World Ski Championships Trentino Fiemme 2013, sponsored by the Autonomous Province of Trento with a formal convention, will be developed through the installation of patented equipment for the reduction of electric energy consumption (E-BOX for lighting and E-POWER for transportation) in the main enterprises of the valley and the public offices of the municipalities of Cavalese and Predazzo. Also after the World Championships, this equipment will provide clean air to Val di Fiemme by saving a total amount of energy of almost 500.000 kW/h per year, preserving this precious environmental heritage.

The know-how developed by the OC for supporting a good quality of life will lay the foundations for a similar project that will be carried out during the Winter Universiade that will be hosted in Trentino during December 2013, an event that will involve both Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa.

THE FIRST HIGH-TECH ECOLOGICAL ISLAND

The quality of life can’t be improved only with a renewed sense of accountability. Some times, also ingenuity is needed. This is why the World Championships’ showcase of Val di Fiemme will offer also a revolutionary ecological jewel. The cross-country stadium of Lago di Tesero will host the first functioning prototype of a high-tech ecological island called eCo-b1. Besides providing a service of separate collection of waste, the island will provide also a green service to recharge for free the batteries of mobile phones, smartphones, computers and tablets. Exploiting the solar panels installed on its roof, the island will offer a precious service to the audience of the Nordic World Ski Championships Trentino Fiemme 2013 that probably will feel the need to recharge their communication and interaction tools during the day of the races. The strong commitment that Val di Fiemme has in the field of innovation brought about the creation of this high-tech ecological island, made by using eco-labelled wood of Val di Fiemme and produced by Varesco Sawmill of Lago di Tesero, while the island was designed by the studio Progettaere of Eliana Francioso. The father of this invention is also a member of the OC of the World Championships: Danilo Buzzi, responsible of the environmental projects of Fiemme 2013. After the World Championships, the island eCo-b1 will provide its services in Tesero, on the cycling path that crosses Val di Fiemme. This project «made in Fiemme» is sponsored by the Autonomous Province of Trento and the municipality of Tesero and seems already to be a story of success, because it was designed as a multifunctional and mobile structure.

ELECTRIC MINIBUSES AND FREE SKIBUSES

Innovative, silent, cost-effective and more importantly at zero emissions: these are the adjectives that can be used to describe the two electric and hydrogen fueled minibuses that will serve Val di Fiemme, in Trentino. The village of Panchià will host the service station of these buses. During the World Championships, these brand-new buses will take on the roads of Val di Fiemme to provide a shuttle service to the athletes and the members of the press to and from the Media Center of Cavalese. But the commitment of the valley to promote public transportation and decrease the levels of greenhouse gases doesn’t stop here, thanks to the synergies created between the Autonomous Province of Trento, Comitato Trentino Trasporti Esercizio, Trentino Trasporti and the OC of the World Championships.

During the event, the skibuses will be free for all the people in possession of a valid badge of the World Championships or the FiemmE-motion Winter Card, available at the offices of Tourism Board Val di Fiemme.

The skibus service will be increased, reaching even Moena, for the entire duration of the event.

Besides, the roads of Val di Fiemme will be populated also by 6 urban buses fueled with hybrid engines (electric/diesel) and 7 extra-urban buses (Euro 5 class) that will provide a complete service in which will be involved 20 drivers and 5 people responsible for coordination and logistic activities.

THE ENERGY SAVING VILLAGE

Lago di Tesero, foyer of the cross-country stadium, will welcome the fans of the World Championships in a new eco-village built by Viessmann, leader enterprise at an international level in the production of heating systems, official sponsor of all nordic ski disciplines and also of the Nordic World Ski Championships Trentino Fiemme 2013. In its showroom, Viessmann will present its most innovative, cutting-edge and environmental friendly technologies.

The Energy Saving Village of Lago di Tesero will host also Feps, Free energy power system, producer of an innovative parabolic dish, similar to a satellite dish, that generates electricity and produces hot water. During the World Championships, this parabolic dish will be used to supply with hot water the Norwegian fans camped near the cross-country stadium in the so called «Vikings camp» and that populate Val di Fiemme every time that their athletes take part to an important competition. Other guests of the energy saving village will be Energy book, enterprise that designed the district heating plants and solar power plants built in Val di Fiemme, and Scame, official supplier of the electrical plants of the World Championships, that will present a small column designed to recharge the batteries of the electric vehicles of Val di Fiemme.
